Is the catio safe for all breeds and sizes of cats?

Yes! Our catios are designed to be safe for cats of all sizes and breeds, with sturdy materials and secure enclosures.
How do I introduce my cat to the catio?

Start slow! Let your cat explore at their own pace by placing treats, toys, or a cozy bed inside. Supervise at first to help them feel comfortable.
Will my cat be protected from extreme weather?

We recommend ensuring your cat always has access back into the house in case of extreme or uncomfortable weather. Our structures are suitable for NZ weather conditions.
Can other pets (like small dogs or rabbits) use the catio?

Our netting netting has been designed for use by cats only and is not covered for damage resulting from dogs or other animals housed in OR outside of the enclosure.
How do I place an order?

You can order by contacting us through our website, phone, or email. We’ll discuss your needs and help you choose the best containment system. Generally we will visit you prior to an order being placed.
How far in advance should I schedule installation?

Once you have accepted our quote we will discuss timelines and arrange a suitable time to install.
Do you provide consultations before purchase?

Yes! We offer consultations to discuss your space, design preferences, and budget before you commit.
Do you service my area?

Currently we service the Canterbury region only. If you are outside this region but really like what we do, let us know and we'll see if we can help.
What happens if I change my mind after ordering?

If you need to cancel or make changes, let us know as soon as possible. Refunds or modifications may depend on how far along we are in the process and whether or not parts have been fabricated.
How do I maintain my catio?

Maintenance is simple! Just check for wear and sweep out debris occasionally to keep it in great shape. For powdercoated surfaces, simply follow 3 important steps: 1. Carefully remove any loose surface deposits with a wet sponge by gently rubbing. 2. Clean by gently rubbing the surface with a soft brush (non-abrasive) and a dilute solution of a mild detergent, e.g. pH-neutral liquid hand or dishwashing detergent in warm water to remove dust, salt and other deposits. For stubborn stains use only recommended solvents on the affected area, e.g. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or methylated spirits and rinse off with clean water. Do not use other aggressive solvents. Alternatively you can use Selley’s Powder Coating Cleaning Wipes for non stubborn stains. 3. Rinse the surfaces with clean fresh water after cleaning to remove all residues. To keep the powdercaot looking new, we recommend a clean twice a year. In some areas such as Coastal & Rural, you may need to increase the frequency of cleaning.
Are the materials weather-resistant?

Yes! We use durable, weather-resistant materials that stand up to rain, sun, and snow.
Will the catio last a long time?

Absolutely! With proper care, your catio will last for years, providing a safe and fun space for your cat. Can the catio be moved if I relocate?

Yes, many of our catios can be disassembled and reinstalled in a new location. Let us know if you need a portable or freestanding design. Depending on how the enclosure ahs been fixed, there may be small holes that need patching.
Do you offer repairs or upgrades?

Yes! We can repair, modify, or add features to your catio or enclosure.
How much does a catio cost?

The cost depends on the size, design, and materials. We offer options for different budgets and can provide a quote based on your needs. To date we have installed simple fence containment for as low as $1200 and catios over $7,000 with plenty in between.
Do you offer financing or payment plans?

No we do not offer this service currently.
Are there budget-friendly options available?

Absolutely! We offer simple, affordable designs as well as custom luxury options.
What’s included in the price?

The price includes materials, design, and installation. Add-ons like shelves or weather protection may cost extra.
Do you require a deposit before starting work?

Yes, we ask for a deposit to secure your project. The remaining balance is due after installation. For containments systems without framing/structure we ask for a 20% deposit. For Catios or framed structures we ask for a 40% deposit.
Do you install the catio, or is it a DIY kit?

We offer both options! We can install the catio for you, or you can choose a DIY kit. Currently all of our catios are custom made in Christchurch, New Zealand
How long does installation take?

It depends on the size and design, but most installations take a half to a full day.
What kind of space do I need for a catio?

Catios can fit almost any space! Whether it’s a backyard, patio, or small corner, we design to match your area. We recommend a single cat should have at least 3 square metres of space with free access back in side or suitable shade. We also build tunnels to access enclosures away from the house.
Can you build a catio for an apartment balcony?

Yes! We can create a safe and secure catio for your balcony, so your cat can enjoy the fresh air.
Do you need access to my home to install the catio?

Not always. If the catio connects to a window or door, we may need brief access. Otherwise, we can install it without entering your home.
Do you offer custom-designed catios?

Yes, all our of catios & enclosures are custom designed and made to measure. We often see similar situations and are working on standardized design options.
Can you match the catio design to my home’s aesthetic?

Yes! We design catios to match your home’s style. Whether your home is modern or classic, we’ll make sure it looks great and keeps your cat safe. You may want to consider color matching your colorsteel spouting or window joinery.
What materials do you use for the structure?

We use strong, durable aluminium in various profiles. Our system utilizes a mixture of hidden and visible fixings. We use D&D hardware for our aluminium gates and powdercoat our frames using the Dulux colour range. Generally we use a 19mm Low vis, UV treated Polyethene netting with Stainless steel fixtures and fitments.
Do you offer accessories like shelves, tunnels, or weather protection?

Yes! We offer shelves, ramps, tunnels, and weather protection to make your catio fun and cozy for your cat. We can arrange products from various suppliers to meet your needs.
Can I choose the size and shape of my catio?

Of course! We customize the catio to fit your space and meet your needs. Whether big or small, we’ll design it just right for you and your cat.
What is a catio?

A catio is a cat enclosure or “cat patio” that provides safety and enrichment outdoors. Whether you have an indoor or outdoor cat, a catio can be a great solution while you enjoy peace of mind knowing your cat is always safe. There are many benefits of catios including protecting birds and wildlife too.
What types of catios do you offer?

We offer custom built, aluminum frame catios with low vis polythene netting. We also install cat fencing and simple frames for netting enclosures.
Can my cat enter and exit the catio on their own?

Yes, if we build your catio adjacent a window or door, your cat will be able come and go as they please. We can also construct walkways/tunnels if your catio is not adjacent your home.
